Calling Cards for Students

If you’re studying abroad, then you’ve probably already noticed how calling home can literally empty your pockets. Unless you’ve discovered the miracle of calling cards, of course. International calling cards are, indeed, a miracle, as they can reduce you costs of calling home (or to other international destinations), to just a few cents a minute!

The ‘secret’ behind all this is that calling card companies are specialized in offering these services: unlike you landline or mobile phone provider, the prepaid calling card companies will route your call specifically so that you benefit of a smaller rate to your international destination.

Mobile and landline providers do not specialize in these services. Their main goals are probably to get as many people as they can to register for subscriptions and to guarantee as big a coverage percentage as they can. And most will probably give you small prices for calling numbers in their network.

But hey, that’s just how THEY work. Calling card companies, on the other hand, prefer to route their calls on other providers’ networks, and buy minutes to international destinations by the dozen. But this way they are able to offer lower rates.

If you’re a student, this is great news for you: go checkout a few providers and pick the card that you like best. You’ll notice you’ll make savings right from the first call. And look, if you still have some time now, go search for them on the web: you can get calling cards online, and save yourself a trip to the store! (and you can take all the time you need to analyze the offers and the various calling cards).

Have fun saving money!
